8-10 Moorgate reaches practical completion
The 8-10 Moorgate project has reached practical completion, and ING are now in occupation of their new UK office. The alinea team were delighted to work with ING on the scheme, along with their professional team which included TP Bennett, Cundall, Sefton Horn Winch and Paul Nulty.
The business floors were predominately fitted out with fixed workstations and cellular offices. These floors also included a variety of internal meeting rooms and social hubs with tea point and break-out space. A commercial grade kitchen was included to service the ING workforce, along with visiting clients and guests. The staff canteen has a contemporary coffee bar and also acts as a flexible space for town hall meetings, team events and social gathering. The main meeting suite was finished to the highest standards of design and quality, using selection of materials which reflected both base build and the heritage of the bank’s history. The walls display artwork from the ING UK art collection and The Baring Archive, as well as accompanying artefacts in display cases.
The fit out also included a number of interesting spaces included a reading room, hypoxicly conditioned high density storage space along with a fully equipped staff gym and changing facilities.
The alinea input on the project was focused around commercial success of the project. This was done by close working relationships with the design team members and applying a practical approach to budget setting, cost optioneering and working with the ING team to ensure the brief was met. The procurement route selected ensured flexibility was built in to allow the design to be complete and a single stage lump sum obtained from a market that was consistently leaning towards a preference for two stage tendering.
