We were delighted to attend the official 8 Bishopsgate Topping Out Ceremony this week. The event celebrated the completion of the tallest section of structure at the top of the tower located in the heart of the City. The ceremony began with representatives from the client, delivery, design, and consultant teams all signing a steel column on Level 50 which was broadcast via Teams to the main group on Level 4. This was followed by speeches by the lead client Mitsubishi, as well as Stanhope and Lendlease. There was a clear and shared sentiment amongst all those in attendance that despite the adversaries the project has faced during its construction, the now almost complete tower is viewed as a major success and predominant part of Mitsubishis London and global portfolios. As per Japanese tradition, the ceremony concluded with the smashing of some Sake barrels for everyone to enjoy.
