In preparation for our upcoming Market Report we have been looking at supply chains of consumer goods. This week our #alineaknowledge team have been particularly interested in the conversation around parts for the New Land Rover Discover with Automotive News Europe and IHS Markit.
Supply chains of consumer goods, particularly cars, have been a topic of scrutiny of late, first because of concerns over access to markets, then tariffs, and now rules of origin. Demonstrations of the convoluted path that small components take around the world before being fitted into a final product in the UK have shown just how complex and diffuse modern supply chains are. This should make every industry question how well it understands where its goods come from, not just to better understand trade delays and potential pinch points, responsibility, and as a path to understanding the complete carbon cost of the chain.
