On Tuesday, Steve Mudie was on the judging panel for this year’s Schüco Excellence Awards, which took place at Schüco’s London HQ in Great Portland Street.
As is tradition, the judging panel is primarily formed of winning architects from the previous year’s awards, plus other selected judges and Steve, who has had the privilege of being invited back as a judge, this being his eighth year on the panel.
The awards are co-sponsored by Architecture Today, with this year’s judging panel under the excellent chairmanship of Isabel Allen, Editor of Architecture Today and her Team, supported by the Schüco Team.
The other judges for the Schüco Excellence Awards were; Hazel Joseph (AHMM), Carol Patterson (OMA), Daniel Mulligan (Glenn Howells) Ingrid Petit (Fielden Fowles), Harry Montressor (Montressor Partnership) and Innes Johnson (Max Fordham).
Due to Covid restrictions, last year’s awards were judged and subsequently awarded virtually. This year, the tradition of an awards lunch is possible and takes place on 16th September, at which time the lucky winners (architects and façade contractors) will be announced for the categories their projects were entered. Those being; Commercial, Cultural, Education and Health, Individual House, Individual House Improvement, Refurbishment, Residential development, Steel Project, Sustainability. In addition, there is the specialist contractor of the year award and the best of the best category winner award.
Suffice to say, all judges are sworn to secrecy leading up to the awards lunch and the Architecture Today specific Schüco Awards supplement.
